At JR Ramco, safety is not a slogan and it is not an afterthought. It is how we run the work.
We are dedicated, devoted, and serious about protecting the people who make every project possible. That starts with our employees and field team members. It extends to our customers and owners. And it includes the public living, driving, and working around our jobsites.
When the work is mission-critical, the standard for safety has to be higher. That is the standard we hold ourselves to.
Our Commitment
JR Ramco is committed to a workplace where every person goes home the same way they arrived. We operate with a written safety plan, clear field accountability, and the expectation that safety takes priority over production when the two are in conflict.
Every person on our jobsites is expected to work as a competent person with the authority — and the responsibility — to stop the job if something is unsafe. That authority is real. It is not optional. It is how we protect our crew, our customers, and the public.
Training That Meets and Exceeds the Standard
Our field staff is trained to meet — and to exceed — applicable OSHA requirements for the work we perform.
Depending on role and assignment, our people are trained in:
- OSHA 10 Construction
- OSHA 30 Construction
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER, when the work requires it
- OSHA Confined Space entry and related procedures
- OSHA Excavation and Trench Safety
We do not treat training as a checkbox. We treat it as the baseline for showing up ready to work.
How We Work Safely Every Day
Daily documented safety tailgate talks. Before the shift moves, the crew reviews the day’s hazards, controls, and expectations — and we document it.
Competent-person accountability. Field leadership and crew members are expected to identify hazards, correct them when possible, and stop work when necessary.
A living safety plan. Our safety program is written, communicated, and enforced so expectations are clear before anyone steps into the excavation, onto the equipment, or into the travel lane.
Task-qualified operators and drivers. Our drivers and equipment operators are trained and certified for the work they are assigned to perform. We do not put people on tasks they are not qualified to do.
Equipment, Fleet, and Technology
Safe work depends on safe tools. Our trucks and equipment are maintained to a high safety standard, with service and readiness treated as part of the job — not an interruption of it.
To support safer operations in the field and on the road, JR Ramco uses technology as a control, not a gimmick:
- Cameras on equipment to improve operator awareness and reduce blind-spot risk
- Cameras on trucks to support safer driving and incident review
- GPS monitoring across our equipment so assets, location, and utilization are visible and accountable
Maintenance, training, and monitoring work together. That is how we keep people and the public safer around heavy civil and utility work.
Insurance and Risk Management
JR Ramco maintains a full contractor insurance program aligned with the demands of New Jersey public works and mission-critical infrastructure work.
Our coverage includes:
- Commercial General Liability
- Workers’ Compensation and Employers’ Liability
- Commercial Automobile Liability
- Umbrella / Excess Liability
Our program supports owner and contract requirements, including certificates of insurance and additional-insured endorsements when required by contract. Certificates of insurance are available upon request for qualified project use.
